Making specialist advice by phone or video quick, clear and safe.
Specialist support is often a call away. How you use it is part of good rural practice.
Before you call
- Have the key findings, results and images ready.
- Know your specific question.
On the call
- 1Introduce yourself, your site and its resources.
- 2Situation and background in a few sentences.
- 3Your assessment and what you're worried about.
- 4Your request: advice, review by video, or transfer.
- 5Read back the plan, and agree when to call again.
After
Document the advice, who gave it and the time, and tell the patient what's happening.
